Evaluating electric system needs and solution options and selecting plans for eventual proposal is an important process. We have strived from our company's inception to make our plans public by annually issuing our 10-Year Transmission System Assessment. Now the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has required transmission owning utilities like ATC to make its planning processes open and transparent as well. You will find an overview of the required underlying principles of a sound planning process and the major aspects of electric system planning, along with links to contact information and procedures.

While the aspects listed are technical processes, we welcome your input either as a participant in our long range efforts or during our 10-Year Assessment public meetings, which are designed to answer public questions and receive feedback. Transmission line projects serve both local and regional needs, and successful siting of transmission lines that bring electricity into communities depends on local participation.  We appreciate your input and encourage you to review our plans.

Sincerely,

Flora Flygt

Director of Planning
